Frequently Asked Questions

How often are fundamental forecasts published?

Currently, the latest forecast is updated six times a day, every day. Same as our Day-ahead forecasts. After the publication of spot prices for the next electricity market day, the schedule for new fundamental forecasts is as follows (Finnish time)

  1. at approx. 16:00
  2. at 21:00
  3. at 07.00
  4. at 8.30
  5. at 10.00
  6. at 11.00

We have the possibility to update the forecasts more frequently if customer needs require it.
What bidding zones do you cover?

Currently we provide fundamental forecasts in these price areas / bidding zones:

  • FI
  • SE_1
  • SE_2
  • SE_3
  • SE_4
  • EE
  • LT
  • DE_LU

We aim to cover more areas in the future and will update the list.

What fundamental forecast you provide?

Currently we offer wind & solar forecasts. We aim to add more fundamentals soon fore example transmission forecasts as well as load forecasts.

We have a lot of different fundamental forecasts and data in the background of the price forecasts, but we will publish some of it in our web UI in the future.

We will update the list going forward.

What data sources does the forecasts use?
Our forecasts use weather and electricity market related variables from Finland, Nordics, Baltics, and Central Europe. Variables include:
  • Weather observations and forecasts
  • Urgent Market Messages (UMM's) related to transmission, production and consumption unavailabilities.
  • Fuel prices
  • Hydrological situation
  • Actual production of certain production types
  • Production and transmission capacities
  • A subset of the Flow Based transmission domain in the Nordics, as published by the Joint Allocation Office (JAO)
What period does the forecast cover and in what resolution?

Our current forecast length is 7 days, starting from the last known day ahead price. The forecast resolution is currently 1 hour.
